SimplePort "At a Glance" Subscriber Guide

We know establishing the SimplePort User Interface settings can be somewhat intimidating. Attempting to simplify complicated services/applications (PayPal and QuickBooks) is not an easy task. When it comes to establishing your own SimplePort Tabbed User Interface field settings, there are no hard rules, as QuickBooks company files have many possible configurations depending on specific business accounting requirements. It is up to the subscriber to determine what info should be placed in the SimplePort User Interface fields; based on their specific QuickBooks Chart of Accounts, credit and banking implementations, shipping, taxes, etc.

The SimplePort User Interface default settings will work for most businesses, but are not set for all businesses.

For the first-time user we recommend using the SimplePort on-screen help. Carefully read and follow the recommendations and suggestions.  Use the How To… links to review detailed FAQ Knowledgebase articles for each field as appropriate. These tools will assist you to understand the parameters needed in the various SimplePort Tabbed User Interface fields.
Use the mouse “On-Click” capabilities to display help information (in the SimplePort HELP frame) for each Tabbed User Interface data field, action button or next step. This information will assist you to set the fields for accurately mapping your PayPal data to your QuickBooks company file (Chart of Accounts, Item lists, Banks, etc.).

Also, review the FAQ - Web Site Glossary to learn and understand the different terms used on the site and in the SimplePort User Interface.

To aid SimplePort subscribers, a complete set of SimplePort Next Steps and SimplePort User Interface Tab field mapping reference diagrams are available (click the specific links in the SimplePort At A Glance frame on this page to view or download the diagrams). Establishing the permanent SimplePort User Interface settings specific to your business might take a few attempts to get right (may require additional accounts in the QuickBooks Chart of Accounts, etc.). When doing the import for the first few times, select a smaller number of transactions until all settings are correctly set. Once theSimplePort User Interface preferences are set correctly, the process of downloading the PayPal History File, creating the iif import file (using SimplePort) and the actual QuickBooks import action take, quite literally, seconds to complete.

Be sure to backup the QuickBooks company file before attempting the iif file import.  If the import did not do what was expected, restore the company file to the original (pre-import) state, adjust the SimplePort User Interface settings accordingly, and as the old adage says, "try, try again".
